Victor Osimhen is one of the greatest strikers to play for Napoli, but he had to fight hard before they let him leave

Former Super Eagles striker Brown Ideye has questioned the logic behind Napoli’s decision to add a clause that will prevent Victor Osimhen from joining a Serie A club for the next two years, Soccernet.ng reports.

Osimhen’s exit from Napoli has been one of the hottest transfer topics since last year, but he is about to get it sorted.

The Super Eagles star was linked with multiple clubs in the top five leagues last year, but it did not work out.

Eventually, he made the decision to join Galatasaray permanently last week, the same club where he played on loan last season.

The transfer is almost complete, however, Napoli have not let Osimhen go without a putting up a stern fight. The Partenopeans were adamant about their €75 million price tag, and they got it.

Galatasaray also wanted to spread the payment over the next two years, but Napoli refused, insisting on just one year.

They also added a 10% percent sell-on clause, which means that the Partenopeans will get a tenth of whatever Galatasaray make if they sell Osimhen in future.

Then, it was also stated in the contract that Osimhen cannot be sold to a Serie A club for the next two years.

This clause has got Ideye talking, as the former Super Eagles striker believes that Napoli are over overbearing.

“In my 20 years of professional football, I’ve never seen or heard this type of clause,” Ideye wrote on X.

“Galatasaray can’t sell a player they bought for two years to an Europe club‍♂️ what is Napoli scared of?

“This is more than just a transfer. Time will tell.”

Victor Osimhen was billed to undergo a medical at Galatasaray, which means the club will confirm his signing this week.

Despite all the dodgy intricacies of the contract, it is a record-breaking deal for Galatasaray and Osimhen.

He has become the most expensive signing by a Turkish club. He will also be the highest-paid player by a Super Lig club.

Ideye was an important member of the Super Eagles team that won the Africa Cup of Nations in 2013. He played in the English Premier League, Ligue 1, and the Greek Super League.

The 36-year-old striker spent last season at Enyimba, but he left at the end of the campaign.
