Kelechi Iheanacho’s agent, Roger Wittmann, has firmly dismissed reports linking the Nigerian striker to a move to Egyptian giants Al Ahly, Soccernet.football reports.

Rumours had surfaced on Monday suggesting the Cairo-based club was interested in offering the 28-year-old an escape route from his challenging stint at Spanish side Sevilla.

Iheanacho joined Sevilla on a free transfer in July 2024 after his contract with Leicester City expired.

However, the forward has struggled to find his feet in La Liga, failing to register a goal or assist in nine league appearances this season.

Despite a bright start in the Copa del Rey, where he netted three goals in two matches, his overall form has been underwhelming.

Reports claim Sevilla are keen to offload Iheanacho during the January transfer window, either on loan with an option to buy or through a permanent deal.

Speculation about Al Ahly’s interest intensified after sources suggested the Egyptian club was exploring a move to secure his services.

Speaking to Egyptian media outlet Btolat via AS, Wittmann denied any discussions with Al Ahly.

“No one from Egypt has contacted us to talk about the player, so the news that is out there is completely false,” he clarified.

While Wittmann’s comments appear to pour cold water on the rumours, Sevilla are reportedly eager to part ways with the Nigerian international.

Iheanacho’s two-year contract, which includes an optional extension, has not yielded the expected results for the Andalusian side, leaving the club unconvinced of his long-term prospects.

Interest in Iheanacho’s services remains strong, however.

English Championship side Watford are reportedly pursuing a loan move for the former Manchester City star, while clubs from Greece, Turkey, and the MLS are also monitoring his situation.

A return to England, either in the Premier League or Championship, could reignite the career of a player who remains highly regarded for his scoring pedigree.

Iheanacho’s past achievements underline his potential. At Manchester City, he became the club’s highest-scoring Nigerian player, tallying 21 goals and seven assists in 64 appearances.

He also played a key role in Leicester City’s 2021 FA Cup triumph.
