‘Whatever Thing Anybody Says Is Not My Business’ – Wike Speaks On Agreement With Fubara

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has stated that he will not disclose the details of the truce recently brokered between him and the suspended Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara.

Naijaonpoint reports that Wike emphasised that the most important outcome is the return of peace to the oil-rich state.

Wike made the remark on Thursday during a media chat at his Abuja residence. He dismissed calls for transparency on the agreement, urging Nigerians to focus on the restored calm rather than the fine print.

The former governor of Rivers State said, “I will allow you to speculate, it’s not my business. All I know is that peace has come.

“If you are not satisfied with that, there is nothing we can do. What is important is that peace has returned. Whatever thing anybody says is not my business.”

Wike further alleged that certain individuals were benefiting from the political instability in Rivers State, using the conflict to enrich themselves at the expense of the people.

Last month, President Bola Tinubu intervened in the crisis by convening a peace meeting that included Wike, Fubara, and the suspended Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly. The intervention followed months of fierce political rivalry and internal wrangling in the state.

In a rare and controversial move, Tinubu had earlier suspended Fubara, his deputy Ngozi Odu, and the Assembly members in March 2025 amid a standoff that threatened to destabilise governance in the state.

The feud between Wike and Fubara centred on control over the state’s political structure. The rift deepened when lawmakers loyal to Wike, led by Speaker Martin Amaewhule, initiated an impeachment move against the governor.

In a swift response, President Tinubu appointed retired naval officer Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (rtd) as the sole administrator of the state, pending resolution of the crisis.
