Nollywood actress Motilola Adekunle has sent a message to women as she spoke on failed marriage.
In an interview with her colleague, Biola Bayo, she said no woman goes into a marriage to leave, and when a marriage fails, nobody wins.
Motilola noted that people now see marriage as a competition. She mentioned how women love to make a scene out of everything. She stated that women love to be right about everything, but she made them know that there is nothing to be right about anymore.
“No woman goes into marriage with the intention of leaving. When a marriage fails, nobody wins. I don’t know how people see it as a competition. I think it is mostly women who want to make a scene out of everything. Who wants to be right about everything? There is nothing to be right about anything anymore.
I am a stubborn goat. I fell in love with acting when I was in SS2. My major challenge is that now, as a director, it’s harder to be an actor”.
In 2021, the Yoruba actress announced her divorce from her air force husband, Mr Adekunle. The movie star said their decision to split was best for both of them as it involved no anger or violence, but due to their consensus.
Despite splitting up, she said their duties as parents to their two children remained intact.
Before the announcement, Motilola had denied rumours of a conflict between her and her former mother-in-law after a report claimed that her mother-in-law felt the actress was too expensive for her son.
Following the announcement, reports had claimed that the major reason why her marriage crashed was because of her extramarital affairs with her colleague, Kunle Afod. According to Gistlover, Kunle’s wife found out about their affair. She exposed the actors and revealed that her husband was the father of Motilola’s last child because of their striking resemblance. Gistlover said Motilola’s husband heard about it and decided to abandon her and the children.
Last year, the Yoruba actress topped headlines after she called out her Kunle Afod and his wife, Desola, for sabotaging her career. She narrated how Desola, slandered her on social media with numerous allegations which she never committed. She pleaded with Kunle to desist from defaming her because she was no longer interested in having a relationship with him.
In another post, she opened up about how they tried to shake her and thought she was spiritually, physically and emotionally shaken. Still, she’s grateful to God for helping her through.
Also, last year, while celebrating her birthday, Motilola had narrated her near-death experience. She claimed she survived numerous attacks and threats to her life, and urged everyone to join her on Thanksgiving.
