Former presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore has lamented that public trust in the Nigerian Police Force has greatly declined.
He questioned the reason the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, was still in office, despite what he described as widespread failure within the police.
Speaking via his 𝕏 account on Wednesday, Sowore accused the police boss of poor leadership.
According to him, morale within the force has collapsed under the current leadership, while professionalism has been replaced by decay, illegality and impunity at the highest level
Sowore wrote, “When will this retired, tired, incompetent, corrupt, and illegal Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, finally be shown the way out of the Police Headquarters?
“Morale within the force has collapsed under his watch. He has reduced institution to a trivialized caricature, trivializing the Nigeria Police Force and running it completely into the ground.
“The damage is evident not only in the growing loss of public trust but also in the deep frustration of officers who see the little “professionalism” left replaced by decay, illegality, and impunity at the very top. How could the Nigerian Police Force deny the obvious church abductions on Kajuru in Kaduna for close to one week?”
Recall that bandits on Sunday attacked two churches in Kurmin Wali, Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State, abducting an unspecified number of worshippers.
However, the Kaduna State Government and the Kaduna State Police Command dismissed reports that over 100 worshippers were abducted during the attacks, describing the claims as false and misleading.
