Nollywood actor, Jim Iyke, has opened up on his journey through divorce, fatherhood, and personal growth.
Speaking in an interview with Saturday Punch, the actor explained that parenting for him goes beyond words, as children learn by copying actions.
According to him, his son mirrors everything about him, from his dressing and sitting posture to his manner of speech, which is why he lives deliberately, avoiding unnecessary drama in the media.
He stated that his goal is to raise a child who sees strength, restraint, and resilience in him rather than a man consumed by conflicts.
On the question of remarriage, Jim Iyke made it clear that he has no plans to return to that path.
Naijaonpoint reports that he revealed that his first marriage happened at a difficult time, shortly after he lost his mother, and was marked by cultural differences and racial tensions that drained him emotionally.
Despite the breakdown of the union, he maintains a cordial relationship with his ex-wife, describing their post-divorce bond as rare and admirable.
He explained that they remain friends and co-parents, with his ex-wife still involving him in family matters and prioritizing stability for their son.
He said: “I have no plans to remarry. I’m very clear about this: I took full responsibility for that union. She’s a great person, and I’m a great guy. But marriage and fame together are tough, so you must be intentional. Sadly, ours happened at my lowest point; just after I lost the most important person in my life (my mother). There were cultural differences and racial tensions; not just from strangers but sometimes even within the family structure. It drained me.
“Eventually, the marriage ended, but we stayed friends. Today, we’ve built something rare, a great post-divorce family. My ex still picks me up from the airport sometimes, even with her new partner, and comes to me for advice. That’s intentional, because our child didn’t choose to be born.”
