Niyi Akinmolayan sought permission from my husband before I filmed Elevator Baby Toyin Abraham Kemi

Nollywood actress Toyin Abraham has recalled how filmmaker Niyi Akinmolayan had to seek permission from her husband, Kolawole Ajeyemi, before shooting their award-winning movie, Elevator Baby.

In an interview with Pulse Ng, she revealed that she was 7 months pregnant when Niyi reached out to shoot the movie. According to her, she was keeping her pregnancy private, and Niyi was oblivious that she was pregnant.

She said she told him to seek permission from her husband. Luckily, Kolawole agreed to the shoot and was present on set to support his wife. Abraham said she had two nurses on the set catering to her needs.

“I was pregnant with Ireoluwa, and Ire will be 6 in August, when we shot this movie. When I got pregnant, I didn’t want people to know. So, I got a call from Mr Niyi and he said there is a scene that I would do and they would do make-up for me as a pregnant woman. It is actually not my movie, it is Antar Hills, and I am like ‘Did you know I am pregnant?’, and I was like 7 months. I told him he had to ask my husband if he would agree. He came to the house and spoke to my husband, and he agreed. My husband was on set, and two nurses were on set. It was a crázy shoot but I enjoyed myself”.

A week back, a Tiktok user had queried Toyin over her marital status. Responding to him, Toyin urged the fan to come to her house to feed his curiosity.

In 2023, Toyin opened up on her miscarriage. The light-skinned actress confirmed that she was pregnant, unfortunately, the baby didn’t survive. Toyin revealed that she cried following the loss as she wanted to have one or two kids and be done. She also spoke about how she was body shamed after getting bloated from the loss.

Just like every celebrity marriages, Toyin’s marriage to Kolawole as had it’s own scandal. Back in 2022, it was speculated that Toyin and Kolawole were having an in-house crisis, arising from Toyin’s attitude towards certain issues that revolve around their family. Toyin’s husband had been complaining about her attitude, her refusal to follow him to church, and her skipping to sleep at home for a couple of days. The couple, however, debunked the reports and had proven that their union is still waxing stronger.

In an interview with Media Room Hub, Toyin vowed never to leave her husband, as she can’t imagine herself and her husband not living together. However, she finds comfort in knowing that her marriage is ordained by God and as such, doesn’t need to fear anymore.
