Veteran Nollywood actor, Patrick Doyle, has called out the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, over the type of chair he used while addressing the media on Thursday.

Doyle reacted after a video surfaced online showing Wike sitting on a large, gold-trimmed seat during the press event.

The chair, which many have compared to a royal throne, drew attention and sparked conversations among Nigerians.

Naijaonpoint reports that the actor expressed concern over Wike’s decision to use such a luxurious chair, saying it reflects how some public officials see themselves.

He said it sends the wrong message to the public, especially at a time when many Nigerians are struggling with economic hardship.

Doyle also said such actions by political leaders make it appear as though they are disconnected from the people they are supposed to serve.

He warned that these public displays of wealth and status by politicians could create more distance between the government and the citizens.

“If this isn’t a throne I wonder what is. Why on earth would a minister of the Nigerian state mount a throne to address Nigerians. This is a sign of the psychosis afflicting Nigerian political office holders, delusion of grandeur”, he wrote on Facebook.
