Wike Is Best Minister In Tinubu’s Govt – Ex-Jonathan’s Aide, Prof Monye

A former Special Adviser on Monitoring and Evaluation to former President Goodluck Jonathan, Sylvester Monye, has commended Nyesom Wike’s efforts to restore Nigeria’s capital city, Abuja, to its master plan.

Professor Monye said the Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Wike, remains the best minister in President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

In an interview with Arise News on Monday, Jonathan’s former aide stated that the former governor of Rivers State has been performing “magic” since his appointment.

The Delta State politician said only Wike showed commitment to implementing the 40-year master plan of the Capital city.

“If you look at the performance of the ministers, I’m not here to do the assessment because that’s a different subject altogether. But if I were to assess the performance of the ministers, you would see that there are three categories of ministers. The first category has one person, and that’s Nyesom Wike.

“He is on his own. He is arguably the best minister in this administration. He has done and continues to do magic. That’s what I can look at, based on parameters. You have a master plan for Abuja. That is the indicator we are talking about. You have a master plan for Abuja that was laid down for over 40 years.

“And he has come in and he has jumped on the assignment and he is delivering, doing those things that have been abandoned.

Now, he didn’t do the master plan. He is simply implementing the master plan. And he is implementing it beautifully. That’s my own assessment,” he said.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain also condemned the federal government’s policy on petrol subsidy removal. He noted that since the subsidy was removed, Nigerians have yet to enjoy its effect on the economy.

“You have removed subsidy. Why did you remove subsidy? You have not told Nigerians why. You’ve said, oh, it’s losses, corruption. I agree. So what? Have you removed the subsidy? What are you going to do with the proceeds of the subsidy?

“That is the question people are asking. You need to say to the Nigerians, we have removed subsidy. We are going to raise $30 trillion. This is what we are going to do with the $30 trillion. And at the end of this investment, expect this. Hold us accountable for these deliverables. But that is not done,” he stated.

Recall that Naijaonpoint reported that Minister of Finance, Wale Edun, sought a closed-door session while he was grilled by the National Assembly’s Joint Committee on Finance on revenues accruing to the nation from the removed fuel subsidy.
