Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike must be a super politician, the kind yet unknown anywhere in the democratic world.
He has set for himself a task never accomplished before in election campaigns anywhere in the democratic world.
The former Rivers State Governor has declared emphatically, that he would be leading the presidential campaigns of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2027.
Speaking in Abuja on Monday, June 2, the Minister declared that he will lead President Bola Tinubu’s presidential campaign in Rivers State for the 2027 election.
Responding to journalists’ questions, Wike said, “I have told you this before, is it because I am in Asiwaju’s presidency?
“Are you not aware I will lead his campaign in Rivers State? You want me to say no?
“Are you not aware that he (Tinubu) didn’t get up to 10 per cent here, FCT? But he will win here. Are you not aware?
“Stop asking me questions you know. Of course, you know. Is that hidden. Because I have said the South must produce the president.”
Speaking during a separate media interactive session in Abuja a week later, on June 10, Wike said, “I will lead PDP’s campaign in Rivers State.”
“I will lead the PDP campaign in Rivers in 2027. No one will take me out of this party,” he declared emphatically.
Continuing, the Minister said,”I am still in PDP. I worked hard for the party. No one has the right to question my membership. Who has done more for the party than I have?”
Mr Wike, however, has yet to explain how he is going to combine his role as campaign lead for the ruling party and the main opposition party in the same election cycle.
Not a few party leaders and stakeholders in the two major political parties are said to be worried by the minister’s conflicting statements.
