ACCORDING TO OUR REPORTER Political scientist Olalekan Anjolaiya has declared that FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has trapped himself in the escalating Rivers State political crisis. A detailed analysis of the Rivers political crisis and power shifts in Nigeria has been published on NewsVista.
Speaking on News Central TV, Anjolaiya said Wike’s bid to control the power struggle has backfired, leaving him as the main casualty while Governor Siminalayi Fubara gains strength under the APC.
Describing the feud as a battle for power—not ethnicity or religion—Anjolaiya likened it to a godfather-godson clash complicated by shifting party loyalties. He noted Wike’s influence has sharply declined since 2023, with the once-powerful G5 bloc losing relevance.
“It’s like a dog trying to guard two compounds; Wike caught himself in a dirty game, and now there are bruises,” Anjolaiya said, adding that Wike is today’s real victim, not the governor.
