Wilfried Zaha Moves To MLS Club, Charlotte FC

Ivorian winger, Wilfried Zaha has joined Major League Soccer club, Charlotte FC, on loan until January 2026, with an option for an extension until June 2026.

Currently playing on loan at Lyon after transferring from Galatasaray last summer, the former Crystal Palace forward has had limited opportunities this season, making six appearances, five of which were as a substitute.

At Charlotte, Zaha, 32, will occupy a Designated Player spot, allowing the team to add a talented player without impacting the salary cap.

Charlotte’s general manager, Zoran Krneta, said: “Wilfried’s performances in the Premier League and on the international level speak for themselves, and we are confident he can make an immediate impact in Major League Soccer.”

Meanwhile, Arsenal legend Nigel Winterburn has expressed his belief that manager Mikel Arteta should consider signing a new striker this January transfer window, citing Galatasaray’s Victor Osimhen as a strong candidate.

Winterburn emphasized that to compete effectively for the Premier League title this season, Arteta should also explore options like RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko and Juventus forward Dusan Vlahovic.

With Gabriel Jesus sidelined due to injury, Arsenal’s need for a fresh attacking option has become more pressing. The club has been linked with several potential signings, including Osimhen, Vlahovic, and Sesko, as they aim to strengthen their squad.

“Victor Osimhen has been heavily linked with Arsenal, as have the likes of RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko and Juventus forward Dusan Vlahovic,” Winterburn told William Hill Vegas.

“If you could guarantee Mikel Arteta that one of them can offer 20 to 25 goals a season, that would be great — but no one can guarantee that!

“The Gunners need a striker to take them to the next level, and that is to win the Premier League. I would take any of those strikers — it doesn’t matter which one. What matters is who scores the most goals for this team and is the best fit.

“Each option comes with its attributes, but the priority is finding the one who can deliver goals consistently to fire Arsenal to the title. Addressing this issue in the squad could drive Arsenal to a league title.”
