Will Nathan Tella be available for the Unity Cup? Super Eagles star’s injury status revealed

Super Eagles forward Nathan Tella was forced off in the 46th minute of Bayer Leverkusen’s German Bundesliga game at Union Berlin on Saturday after he seemed to have suffered a concussion, prompting fears that he could be sidelined for a while, Soccernet.ng reports.

Tella collided with a Union Berlin player in the first half and even though he made it into the break, he could not continue the game after just one minute of play in the second half.

This prompted fears that he may have suffered a head injury and could be out of action for a while. However, according to Werkself Xtra, Tella did not suffer a concussion. So it could have just been a case of whiplash.

If this is the case, then Tella could be back in action as early as next week, when Bayer Leverkusen play St. Pauli.

The former Arsenal Academy star was unavailable for selection the last time Nigeria played. But he should be fit enough to play next time.

The Unity Cup is an international football tournament that will see four nations lock horns. The four nations are Jamaica, Ghana, Trinidad and Tobago, and Nigeria.

The competition will take place in London, England. The Super Eagles will play their games at the GTECH Competition Stadium, home of Premier League club Brentford.

The games should be an ideal preparation for the Super Eagles heading into the 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers later in the year.
