Without men, women can survive and even be successful — Kaffy

Kafayat Shafau, popularly known as Kaffy, a dancer and author, believes that women can thrive and succeed without men. In a recent interview, she expressed that any man interested in pursuing a relationship with her should feel free to approach her without intimidation.

Having separated from her ex-husband, Joseph Ameh, in January 2022, Kaffy stated, “I don’t think any man meant for me will be scared to approach me. I believe there are amazing and confident men out there, and those who are right for me will come along. I refuse to subscribe to the clichéd notion that men are intimidated by successful women. A man who knows what he wants will go for it.”

Kaffy emphasized that women are blessed by God and can survive and be successful on their own. However, she acknowledged the desire for companionship, calling it a healthy desire but noting that it’s not essential. “I know my value as a woman more than ever before. Any man who has me is truly blessed.”

As a divorced mother of two, Kaffy also elaborated on her feelings regarding her separation, insisting that she holds no bitterness towards her ex-husband. “It’s simply that two people can no longer find common ground. I have moved on. I recognize what went wrong, but I refuse to frame it as him being bad and me being good. If something isn’t working, it’s best to let it go, especially when children are involved. If my mind isn’t at peace, how can I raise better children?”

Kaffy added that it is crucial for parents to remain actively involved in their children’s lives, regardless of their marital status. “This is a concept that many people struggle to grasp. Society tends to focus more on the marriage itself rather than the quality of the relationships formed within it.”
