Renowned Nigerian singer, songwriter, and record label chief, Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, known professionally as Wizkid, has taken to social media to expressed his disappointment and surprise after missing out on a Grammy nominations despite submitting his songs for consideration.
The 2026 Grammy Awards nominations were announced on Friday, November 7, and Wizkid’s name was noticeably absent from the list. This comes as a shock to many, considering his global popularity and critical acclaim.
Wizkid took to social media to share his thoughts on the snub, saying, “I’m not mad, I’m just disappointed. I worked hard on my music and I believe it deserved to be recognised.” He also expressed his gratitude to his fans for their continued support.
Recall that for the 2026 Grammy nomination, the Essence hitmaker submitted “Morayo” for ‘Album of the Year’, and ‘Best Global Album’; “Piece of My Heart” featuring Brent Faiyaz for ‘Record of the Year’, ‘Song of the Year’, and ‘Best African Music Performance’, while “Kese (Dance)” for ‘Best Music Video’. However, all of the above songs were not nominated for the 2026 Grammy Awards after submission.
The global superstar won his first Grammy Award, ‘Best Music Video’ for “Brown Skin Girl” alongside Beyoncé, Blue Ivy, and SAINt JHN on March 14, 2021, at the 63rd edition. Notwithstanding the setback, the ‘Ojuelegba’ crooner remains optimistic and focused on his music. “I’m not giving up, I’ll keep pushing and making music that makes people happy,” he said in a statement.
The 2026 Grammy Awards ceremony, which is the 68th edition, is scheduled to take place on February 1, 2026, at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, United States of America, is one of the trending conversations online as the full list of nominated artiste was released. Davido, Burna Boy, and Ayra Starr leads the nominees for Best African Music Performance. Burna Boy also bagged a nomination for the 2026 ‘Best Global Music Album.’

Many have taken to Twitter to share their thoughts, using hashtags #WeStandWithWizkid and #GrammySnub.
