The fusion between Spider-Man and Wolverine is much more powerful than the sum of both heroes. Wolverine is one of the most unstoppable of all mutant heroes. Logan’s rapid healing factor and adamantium skeleton make him virtually indestructible, while his retractable claws can slice through virtually anything. His enhanced senses grant him animal-like perception, and over a century of fighting experience puts him on par with Captain America when it comes to hand-to-hand combat.
Spider-Man is one of Marvel’s most powerful street-level heroes thanks to his proportional spider strength, agility, and speed. Peter Parker can lift dozens of tons, move faster than bullets, and immobilize and disarm enemies almost instantly. On top of that, Spidey’s genius-level intellect makes him a master inventor and strategist.
Logan and Peter Parker are extremely powerful when they join forces, as proven by their shared adventures fighting enemies such as Dreadshadow, Omega Red, Kraven, and Mysterio. However, there’s a way they could be even more dangerous.
Marvel Introduces Arachnix, Earth-4587’s Evil Fusion Between Wolverine & Spider-Man
Spider-Man & Wolverine #7; Written by Marc Guggenheim; Art by Kaare Andrews & Brian Reber
Not long after defeating Dreadshadow together, Spider-Man and Wolverine are both transported to Earth-4587, where a weary version of Reed Richards recruits them for a mission. In a universe where Peter’s uncle Ben Parker is alive and Reed Richards is the husband of the late Mariko Yashida, the world is constantly threatened by a team of Avengers, the Revengers. The leader of Earth-4587’s Revengers, Arachnix, possesses Spider-Man and Wolverine’s powers and none of their morals.
Arachnix is clearly the most dangerous member of the Revengers, which also include twisted variants of Thor, Ultron, She-Hulk, and a Hulked-out Black Panther. He’s Reed Richards’ archnemesis, having killed Mariko after stalking her for years. On Earth-4587, Arachnix and the Revengers are only opposed by a team of so-called heroes led by Doctor Doom, called SCYTHE. Spider-Man & Wolverine may only feature Arachnix for a couple of issues, but Earth-4587 has enough potential for a deeper dive in the future.
Wolverine is much more agile than a regular mutant, and Spider-Man is probably the strongest of all street-level heroes. Still, Wolverine doesn’t possess nearly the same speed and agility as Peter Parker, and Peter Parker isn’t nearly as durable as Logan. If either of them gained the other’s unique abilities, there are few enemies that could make it of their encounters alive. Add Arachnix’s twisted ruthlessness to the mix and Spider-Verine would be the deadliest of all Marvel anti-heroes.
Arachnix Has One Of The Best Healing Factors In The Marvel Multiverse
Arachnix Is Made Of Spider Webs
A villain who possesses “the proportional agility and strength of a spider, organic shooters, and deadly sharp claws” is already a huge menace. But Wolverine soon realizes why Arachnix is so lethal, even by Reed Richards standards. As soon as Wolverine slashes him, Arachnix regenerates his whole body with nothing but spider webs. In fact, Arachnix seems to be fully made of sentient, self-reconstructing webs, meaning he’s virtually immortal.
Arachnix’s spider-web body resembles another multiversal Spider-Man: Earth-11580’s Spiders-Man, whose whole body is made of spiders. Since Arachnix is so incredibly powerful, Reed Richards seems to have recruited dozens of Wolverine and Spider-Man variants to defeat him, effectively sending them to their death. Reed Richards mentions that he has never been able to locate an Arachnix analogue in the multiverse, which suggests Earth-4587’s Arachnix is one of the rarest and deadliest Spider-People in the Spider-Verse now.
