A Nigerian woman has opened up about becoming a mother of two despite trying her best to avoid being a single mother after ignoring the red flags in her boyfriend.
This was revealed in a post shared on a popular social media platform, TikTok, by user ekaftv, showing the young woman narrating her struggles as she called on the father of her children to take responsibility.
She said: “I just want him to take responsibility on his children, their schooling, feeding, even if we should divide it 50/50.”
Recalling how it all began, she explained: “I met this guy when I was very young so I had my first child when I was in secondary school. After the baby, that was when I started noticing the red flag.”
“He actually denied at first, no DNA. He knew he was lying, denying the pregnancy and he was the owner of the pregnancy. He knows I’m not a wayward person. After the first child, we were separate, we can be together for one year, another 6 months we broke up we have issues. He womanises a lot.”
“After he did his own drama, first child, we left. I already made my decision that I’ll not have another baby, let me just be carrying my first because my first child is 10 years apart from his brother.”
“He came back, begging that he has changed. I never wanted to be a single mother so I gave him a second chance and the second chance was not worth it, here I am now, a single mom of 2.”
The woman also revealed her own childhood experience of being raised by her father alone: “I was raised by a single father, my mum is not in the picture. She’s not late, she just left. I don’t know my mum, I don’t know anything about her, it was just recently we met, while growing up she was not there.”
She reflected on the similarities between her past and her present situation: “It’s seeming like a curse to me, probably that’s why I made the second wrong choice. He’s not taking responsibility of the two kids.”
Speaking on the red flags she ignored, she said:
“The real red flag is he is a mummy’s boy and he is lazy. I got pregnant for a lazy man probably because I am hardworking, he doesn’t have a job, we were living in his mummy’s place and I got fed up, that was why I left, that was the one of contention.”
“I told him, if you know you’re ready for this marriage, rent an apartment and come back for your wife and children and I later heard that he went back to his mummy’s house and brought another lady.”
She pleaded again: “He should please come and take responsibility on his children, it’s not easy on me, feeding the children, 3 square meals, 24/7 with no help. I’m not someone that likes selling my body to do anything, even though they tag me a prostitute.”
The young woman went on to speak about her imperfections and hinted at the possibility of her husband being interviewed to share his own side of the story.
