Marvel’s Storm isn’t just officially a god, but also one of the most powerful deities in the multiverse. For decades, Ororo Munroe has been a remarkably lethal Omega-level mutant. Storm’s mastery over the weather and her command of thunder places her on the top tier of mutants’ power rankings.
For the fiftieth anniversary of Storm’s comic book debut, Marvel crowns Ororo Munroe as a member of the thunder pantheon. However, Storm goes one step beyond and becomes the one deity capable of defeating the rebel thunder god Hadad. The resulting Thunder War has reached the farthest depths of Marvel’s cosmology, involving Eternity, Infinity, Oblivion, and The One Above All in the House of Ideas, as seen in Storm #12.
Acknowledgment by these cosmic entities is already a great honor for any Marvel character. But Storm isn’t just any Marvel character.
Storm Is The “God Eater” & The “Omega Of Omegas”

As Storm lands the final blows to defeat Hadad, the narration explains Ororo Munroe’s deep connections to Marvel’s cosmic deities. As a direct descendant of the Elder God Oshtur, Ororo is above all other storm gods. She may not know it, but Storm is the Marvel multiverse’s “God Eater” and “Omega of Omegas”, powerful enough to smite all thunder deities and tame abstract beings.
Storm had previously ascended to god status as Hadari Yao, and she had been worshiped as a weather deity since her youth. Ororo Munroe has always been tied to faith on Earth, just like Thor in Asgard and Zeus in Ancient Greece and Marvel’s Olympus. But these other thunder gods are descendants of Gaea, ancestor of figures like Odin and Cronus. The Elder God Oshtur places Storm on a different power level.
Storm Has Just Cemented Herself As The Most Powerful Thunder God
Storm Is Much More Powerful Than Thor & Zeus
Storm has been on par with the thunder god Hadad all throughout the Thunder War. In Storm #12, she confirms she isn’t using her full power after beating him to a pulp, telling him, “I do not intend to end you.” Eternity shows what the fight would have looked like if Storm unleashed her full power from the beginning, taking over to activate Storm’s full power and kill Hadad.
Storm’s battle against Hadad revealed that her mutant gift has surpassed godlike status. Hadad’s defeat places Ororo’s abilities on the same level as cosmic entities, who tower over all mythological deities in the Marvel multiverse. Storm isn’t one to lead pantheons and sit on distant thrones, but she has gained the honor of standing shoulder to shoulder with Marvel’s most powerful beings.
Thor has ascended to similar cosmic heights before, rivaling forces as destructive as the Black Winter, which accompanies Hadad in his defeat in Storm #12. But while Thor remains Marvel’s iconic god of thunder, Storm’s victories establish her as his equal, if not his superior. If that weren’t enough, Zeus himself has expressed envy over Storm’s title as the greatest of the thunder gods.
