This is where xMEMs comes in with its revolutionary new product. The company just introduced the xMEMs Sycamore. This is the world’s first near-field open-air MEM speaker. Despite its small size, this speaker can produce some pretty powerful sound. As more portable devices come out like smartwatches, smart glasses, and VR headsets, the need for smaller speakers rises. Most of these devices use smaller versions of traditional speakers, but you can only shrink a traditional speaker so much. Even at their smallest, traditional speakers still take up a substantial amount of space inside of a small device. xMEMs has spent years trying to solve this problem. It developed a technology that can shrink speakers even more without compromising volume or quality. Today, the company announced its new speaker to revolutionize mobile technology. Sycamore aims to make smaller speakers possible in the devices we use every day. The thing about micro-speakers is that they’ve only been good for closed spaces and in close proximity. They’ve always been too small to generate sound in the open air. Well, the Sycamore driver is only 1mm thick, and it can produce audio that you can hear in the open air. So, you can hear them some distance away. This makes them ideal for devices like TWS earbuds called back volume area. Companies designing smaller products often have to deal with the constraints of using traditional drivers, which can’t get any smaller than about 3mm. They also need some additional space within the product. Well, Sycamore is 1/7th the size of traditional speakers and 1/3rd the thickness. This means that companies designing smaller tech that better uses the space within their products. While they’re small, Sycamore micro-speakers can still offer great audio. These small speakers can offer performance that matches the mid-bass performance of traditional drivers with up to 11gB headroom in sub-bass extension. As for higher frequencies, this driver can reach 15dB above 5kHz over traditional speakers. You’re getting a wide range of audio with these drivers. Sycamore can be used in tandem with other drivers. For example, it can be used as a tweeter for a laptop speaker or a Bluetooth speaker. This opens the door for this driver to be used in a plethora of different devices. They’re much thinner and lighter than traditional speakers, and they allow devices to follow suit. While most traditional speakers can last you a while, they’re still confined to using plastic diaphragms. The xMEMs Sycamore, on the other hand, is rated to be 95x stronger than a traditional speaker. Not only that, but it’s also IP58 water and dust-resistant. This means that you won’t have to worry about your sweat ruining it. This company is no stranger to critical success. The SOUNDPEATS Casule3 Pro+ earbuds use one of xMEMs’ drivers. It sits on top of the 12mm dynamic speaker, adding to the audio quality. These earbuds received high marks from reputable publications such as Forbes, Sound Guys, and more.
