Inter Milan’s interest in Nigeria’s Ademola Lookman has drawn caution from club legend Beppe Bergomi, who believes a number of concerns must be addressed before any deal is completed, Footynaija.com reports.

The Nerazzurri are eyeing Lookman as their marquee attacking signing this summer and have already tabled an offer to Atalanta.

That bid was swiftly rejected, but Lookman — Serie A’s reigning African Footballer of the Year and Europa League final hat-trick hero — remains keen on the switch.

Yet Bergomi, a World Cup-winning defender and one of Inter’s most respected voices, is not entirely convinced of Lookman, who is also wanted by Atlético Madrid.

Speaking to Il Mattino via FCInter News, he warned that Lookman’s success in Bergamo may not translate elsewhere.

Bergomi’s second concern is tactical. He believes Lookman’s arrival would force Simone Inzaghi to tweak a winning formula that revolves around star forwards Lautaro Martínez and Marcus Thuram.

Those who leave Atalanta have generally struggled a bit,” Bergomi said. “That said, he could be a useful signing for Inter, and I hope he wears the Nerazzurri shirt. But then you’d have to change the system; you can’t leave out Lautaro or Thuram.”

Lookman, 27, has been electric since joining Atalanta, contributing crucial goals and standout performances, including a treble in the Europa League final that secured the club’s first continental title.

The Nigeria international is also reportedly on the radar of Napoli and Liverpool but he is said to prefer a move to Inter.
