Former Senator Shehu Sani, who represented Kaduna Central in the 8th National Assembly, has expressed interest in contesting the senatorial seat again in the 2027 general elections.

Sani made this declaration during his Eid-el-Fitr message at his Kaduna residence on Sunday.

While indicating that his decision to run is contingent on favourable political conditions, Sani stated that his primary focus remains supporting the re-election of Governor Uba Sani for a second term.

“If the people of Kaduna Central want us to provide our own kind of leadership and representation at the NASS, you should expect me back to the Senate in 2027,” he stated.

Sani reiterated that his ambition is secondary to ensuring Governor Uba Sani’s re-election, saying, “For now, we want to see that the incumbent governor, Uba Sani, is re-elected. We are going to do it with all our might and strength.”

In addition to his political ambitions, Sani called for peace and unity in Nigeria, urging Muslims to pray for these values during Eid-el-Fitr.

He also condemned the recent killing of hunters in Edo State, advocating for security agencies to apprehend the perpetrators.

Sani reiterated the importance of respecting fundamental rights and the right to life, urging Nigerians to work towards preserving democracy amidst current challenges.
