Nigerian comedian, Acapella, has stated that the African Action Congress (AAC) 2023 presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, has no morals to speak about corruption, following the barrage of corruption allegations against prominent political figures in Nigeria, including President Bola Tinubu, former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, and Labour Party (LP) 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi.
Naija News reports that Sowore, in a post via 𝕏 , also called out other leaders, including former Senate President, David Mark, ex-Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami and former Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, accusing them of aiding systemic corruption, human rights violations, and economic mismanagement.
He said, “I did not join Bola Ahmed Tinubu in distributing heroin and cocaine in Chicago. I did not join Atiku Abubakar in looting the Nigerian Customs dry.
“I did not join Peter Obi at the Tin Can Ports while he cleared goods for Sani Abacha when the same Abacha that was dismantling Nigeria brick by brick.”
Reacting to the statement, comedian Acapella, in a post on his 𝕏 handle, disputed Sowore’s claims about Peter Obi.
He clarified that Peter Obi had only helped to decongest the Tin Can Port when business leaders sought relief from severe port congestion during the Abacha regime.
He wrote, “First Off, Peter Never Worked For The Abacha Government, you lying unrepentant wanna be hero. Obi only helped clear the congestion at the port.
He provided ideas when businessmen who import commodities met with Abacha and expressed their concerns about port congestion.
“Obi never received any salary for the few months he helped decongest the port neither was he documented as an official appointee of the Abacha government. This lies that he worked with the Abacha govt is stale already and should be far gone.”
Speaking further, Acapella reminded Sowore of his past political alliances with the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari.
He added, “Before I forget, whatever you didn’t do isn’t my concern. The mere fact that you were the Chief propagandist in bringing in that disaster, Buhari, into power in 2015, you have no morals to point out who is corrupt and who isn’t.”
