“You Will Be Hanged By The Neck Until You Die” — Kwara Judge Weeps As She Sentences Three For Armed Robbery

A Kwara State High Court sitting in Ilorin has sentenced three men to death by hanging after finding them guilty of armed robbery and criminal conspiracy.

The presiding judge, Justice M.O. Folorunso, became visibly emotional and wept before pronouncing the sentence.

The convicts — John Ndubisi Nbakogu, Bolakale Quadri (also known as Adaka), and Toheeb Suleiman — were arraigned on a two-count charge of armed robbery and criminal conspiracy.

According to the charge sheet, the trio, on March 2, 2024, at about 6 a.m., attacked one Aremu Dayo in the Oko-Erin area of Ilorin and robbed him of his Infinix Note 11 smartphone at gunpoint.

Following police investigations that linked them to the crime, the defendants were arrested and subsequently prosecuted.

In her judgment, Justice Folorunso held that the prosecution had proved its case beyond reasonable doubt.

Overcome with emotion, the judge wept as she delivered the verdict, saying:

“The three of you will be hanged by the neck until you die.”

She cited the provisions of the law prescribing a mandatory death sentence for armed robbery once guilt is established.
