THE security crisis in Zamfara State has intensified, with fresh data showing that between August 4 and 10, 2025, armed groups attacked 15 villages across multiple local government areas.
According to a situational report by the Zamfara Circle Community Initiative, the assaults resulted in 144 kidnappings, 24 deaths, and 16 injuries.
In Bakura Local Government Area, the affected villages were Sabe, Tungar Yamma, Sauru, Lambasu, Dogon Madacci, Dankalgo, and Kwanar Kalgo.
In Tsafe LGA, communities hit include Chediya, Kucheri, Yankuzo, and Katangar Gabas Bilbils. Mafara LGA recorded incidents in Tabkin Rama, Matsafa, and Ruwan Gizo, while Rafin Jema in Gummi and the villages of Adabka and Masu in Bukkuyum were also targeted.
The organisation stressed that the recurring violence highlights the urgent need for stronger security interventions to safeguard rural communities from heavily armed criminal gangs operating in the state.
