WATCH THE VIDEO HERE THE governor of Zamfara State, Dauda Lawal, stated today that the recent military airstrike in the North-Western state was unintentional. Speaking in an interview Lawal expressed condolences to the families affected by the incident. He revealed that he was aware of the military operation before the tragic event, explaining that he had personally invited the Air Force to neutralize bandits attacking the area. During the interview, the governor expressed confidence in the military’s ability to eliminate bandit activities within a month. He also assured that the days of the notorious bandit leader, Bello Turji, are numbered, predicting his imminent elimination, similar to other neutralized top bandits. The airstrike, which occurred on January 11, claimed over 16 lives in the Tungar Kara community in the Maradun Local Government Area of Zamfara State. In response to the incident, the Nigerian Air Force deployed a fact-finding team to investigate the tragedy. The team met with Governor Lawal yesterday at the Government House in Gusau.
