The Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, will host a Justice Reform Summit on May 27 and 28, 2024.

The summit is titled ‘Enhancing the Administration of Justice for Economic Growth, Investment Protection and Security in Lagos State.’

This is according to a statement issued by the Solicitor-General and Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Ministry of Justice,  Titilayo ShittaBey-Jeje, on Wednesday.

She said that Sanwo-Olu would be the Chief Host at the summit which would take place at the Marriott Hotel, GRA Ikeja, Lagos.

According to her, the Chief Justice of the Federation, Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, would be the Chairman, while the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister for Justice Prince Lateef Fagbemi (SAN), would be the special guest of honour.

ShittaBey-Jeje said the Lagos State Government had become a pathfinder for justice reform following its various landmark and innovative achievements over the years.

“However, being the economic nerve centre of Nigeria, there are real and new challenges to address, hence the summit was conceptualised to explore a diverse perspective towards effective and efficient administration of justice for economic growth, security, governance and investment protection in Lagos State and by extension the whole of Nigeria,” the statement said.

On Tuesday, the AGF, Fagbemi, reiterated that the administration of President Bola Tinubu was committed to promoting justice and human rights.

He said this during the unveiling of the Lagos State Office of the National Human Rights Commission at Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos.

According to him, the Tinubu-led government “believes in the promotion and protection of the human rights of Nigerians and is therefore determined to provide the enabling environment for the commission (the NHRC) to effectively protect the rights of Nigerians.”
