HOURS after Rivers State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice Zacchaeus Adangor resigned, another commissioner in the oil-rich South-South state, Isaac Kamalu, left Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s cabinet.
Kamalu, like Adangor, in a letter to Rivers State Government Secretary Tammy Danagogo today refused to be transferred from the Finance Ministry to the Ministry of Employment Generation and Economic Empowerment.
Kamalu cited the absence of peace in Rivers State, notwithstanding President Bola Tinubu’s peace deal last December.
He stated that he could not offer his best in such a hostile environment.
The governor yesterday reshuffled the state’s cabinet, assigning Adangor to the Ministry of Special Duties (Governor’s Office) and Kamalu to the Ministry of Employment Generation and Economic Empowerment.
The Rivers State Government did not give a rationale for the redeployment.
Both commissioners, who are supporters of ex-governor Nyesom Wike, resigned from their jobs last December in the midst of the state’s political crisis and a schism between Fubara and his predecessor, who is now Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
However, they were reinstated as part of President Bola Tinubu’s peace deal.
