MediaTek is here with its latest mid-year refresh of flagship Dimensity chipsets. The company today launched the Dimensity 9300+ with a faster CPU and a few other upgrades over the Dimensity 9300 from November last year. The new chip will power high-end Android smartphones starting this month.
MediaTek Dimensity 9300+ arrives with a few upgrades
Live the vanilla Dimesity 9300, the Plus variant has an “All Big Core” CPU design. It features one ARM Cortex-X4 prime core clocked at 3.4GHz (up from 3.25GHz), three more Cortex-X4 cores at 2.85GHz, and four Cortex-A720 mid-cores at 2.0GHz. There are no efficiency cores here. MediaTek says this approach significantly boosts the peak performance of the chipset.
The new chip is fabricated on the same third-gen TSMC 4nm process and features the same 12-core ARM Immortalis-G720 GPU with hardware-level raytracing. It boasts 18 MB of total cache, supports LPDDR5X and LPDDR5T RAM at up to 9,600 Mbps, and is compatible with UFS 4.0 storage solutions. Devices can leverage Multi-Circular Queue (MCQ) for improved read/write speed.
The Dimensity 9300+ features MediaTek’s new NeuroPilot Speculative Decode Acceleration technology for enhanced AI performance. Coupled with the APU 790 AI engine, it supports LLMs (Large Language Models) with up to 13 billion parameters and offers scalability of up to 33 billion. The company claims it can run LLMs with seven billion parameters at 22 tokens per second.
The new MediaTek processor boasts the company’s MediaTek Adaptive Gaming Technology and HyperEngine Network Observation System. The Taiwanese firm collaborated “with leading gaming studios to offload real-time network connectivity quality evaluation, enabling more effective and power-efficient Wi-Fi/cellular dual network concurrency in-game.”
For imaging, the Dimensity 9300+ has the Imagiq 990 ISP with support for AI videography and zero latency video preview. It can handle up to 320MP cameras with 8K video recording. The chip also supports WQHD resolution displays at a 180Hz refresh rate and 4K displays at 120Hz. For connectivity, you get Sub-6GHz and mmWave 5G support, Wi-Fi 7, and Bluetooth v5.4.
The new MediaTek chip will soon make its market debut
Smartphones powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9300+ are expected to hit the market as early as this month. The vivo X100s, which arrives on May 13, could be the first phone to ship with the new chip. The iQOO Neo 9S Pro series, iQOO Pad2 Pro, and Redmi K70 Ultra may also use this chipset. MediaTek will follow up with its next-gen solution, the Dimensity 9400, later this year. It could be the company’s first 3nm chip.
