When Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice hit theaters in March 2016, it was a cinematic event years in the making. Superman and Batman had been the two biggest heroes in the DC Universe for almost 80 years by the time the film hit. Both had been the stars of successful movie franchises, and fans had always wanted to see the Man of Steel and the Dark Knight share the silver screen together.
